When Next You Pray For The Sick- Part 1 of “Healing the Gift of God.”

I must say I am so sorry I’d dropped my pen and vanished,πŸ˜” I hope you forgive me for the long silence and most importantly thank you for your prayers and encouragement. If there were no you, there’ll be no point of Jemmy’s Journal in the first place. Thank you for checking back and holding on and thank you for Everytime you shared and recommended my blog to Someone out there. πŸ€—

Today I am starting a series of writing on the gift of healing. πŸ•ŠοΈ And before you click away😱.,, Hold on, it’s nothing like the usual. Just hear me out and☺️ follow me these three days. Today is day 1 and I’m going to start up with some Basic things that I pray would open your heart for more.πŸ₯³

One day, Jesus sent out the 12, and ask them to preach and heal the sick. The Bible records that they went about preaching the gospel and healing everywhere. (Luke 9:1-6)

However, the same disciples, with the excitement of results, thought they had it figured out and so tried again to heal a sick child in Verse 40, but this time around, the demon did not leave the child. How frustrating, isn’t it?

And to think of it, the story kind of suggests they had a focus on result, which was probably based and relied upon their past glory since they’d just returned from a healing crusade. In fact the father called them because of the many testimonies he had heard the disciples performed. But this time around the apostles were using everything in them, they may or may not have thought it was a formula, it had to work… But… They just couldn’t.

Jesus shows, up heals the child and diagnosed his disciples of unbelief.

You see this Faith thing, sometimes, Faith, when you think you are at its strongest point to achieve your aim, may rather be revealing to you your weakest area.

This is revealed to us by the state of our hearts, when we don’t immediately see the result we’d expected, especially if our formula had worked for us before, it could make one question their faith.

And, guess what? once you start questioning your faith, you know you have a weak faith in that area. And it’s not a sin, it’s just a sign that you need to build strength again and stop planning or setting God up to perform miracles in your head and hope God follows the plan.

In my own words, Weak faith is a faith that only stands excited, thrives or feeds on visible, tangible or premeditated results.

Another time,in Luke 10, Jesus sent His disciples out again and said to them ‘Heal the sick,’ you can observe the Disciples were amazed when it actually happened, such that they came back rejoicing !

Amazed again that It worked, when they totally relied on God by only playing their role which is speaking, praying and laying hands. Let God do the healing.

I have reasons to believe this time, they weren’t going out expecting to make it happen, they had learnt. They weren’t focus on miracles anymore, they knew it was God who healed, their job was to carry his presence to them. To go and heal when he asked them to go.

They had learnt. They knew for sure it was by the name of Jesus, not their efforts as we hear them speak in Luke 10:17 ” the seventy two returned with joy, saying, Lord, even the devil’s are subject onto us through thy name.” They knew He’d confirmed His word to them.

And Jesus made this a new principle in Luke 10:20 when he told them what to rejoice about and be focused on.”Notwithstanding in this rejoice not that the spirits are subject unto you, but rather rejoice, because your names are written in heaven.

When next you pray for the sick, remember that having your name or the names of the one you prayed for written in heaven is far more important and worth celebrating than any healing you could have seen for them today.

When we stop hanging our lives and happiness on miracles, and don’t measure our faith with our immediate results when we pray for others, we would have received one of the biggest miracles of our Faith. And this is the faith that will always rejoice and stand amazed at God’s gifts in our lives. it’s the Faith that allows healing to take place, because our minds are already healed and whole.

Thank you for reading, subscribe, share and let’s grow this journal together. 😘

  1. Wonderful. I really was impressed by the phrase that said, that instead of praying for the healing of someone , it’s important we pray that their name be written in the book of Life. How we forget that part and just rejoice over the physical healing and testify and move on.. thank you for the beautiful reminder to not get too over confident about ‘our faith’ which we believe is bringing the miracle but rather , it is God who heals. Allowing God to be God. And be not too focussed on yeh miracle itself. Doing our part of praying , interceding for people, preaching the gospel and allowing God’s Word to work in them. Amen. God bless you mightily sister Jemi for this beautiful article β™₯️. Will be looking forward to day 2 and 3’πŸ₯°
